We are delighted that you are thinking about Hotwells Primary School for your child! Located at the heart of our community, Hotwells is a friendly and caring school where every child is known, appreciated, and encouraged to flourish.  Although we are a small village school in the city centre, we are always looking to welcome new pupils and their families to join our vibrant school community.

If you are a parent considering Hotwells Primary School, here’s a fun summary of why we believe this is the perfect choice for your child:

    • Fantastic Academic Results: We consistently rank among the top schools in Bristol for end of Key Stage 2 SATs results, currently at #5 in the Government league tables for 2025. (Click here to find out more.)
    • Inclusive Education: We are proud to be the only non-religious school option in the area. We serve all faiths and none.
    • No Uniform: Children can express themselves and be comfortable in their own clothes (although we do have a school hoodie).
    • Nurturing Environment: Older pupils love to engage with and support the younger years.
    • Strong Community Spirit: We are deeply linked with local life and enjoy inter-generational activities.

We hope you have had a chance to visit our school and liked what you saw! If you haven’t had a visit yet, please get in touch. We would be more than happy to give you a tour!

If you want to find out more about our Admissions process, please visit the Admissions Page for further information or get in touch with us via the school office.

    What Our Families Say

We’re incredibly proud of the community we have at Hotwells, but you don’t just have to take our word for it. In our 2026 Parent and Carer Survey, 96% of parents said they would recommend Hotwells to another parent. The same proportion said their child enjoys coming to school and that staff really know their child as an individual. 100% of parents agreed that the school is well led and managed.

Our families particularly value the warm, welcoming atmosphere at Hotwells and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a small, close-knit school community.

As one parent put it: Another told us: And perhaps our favourite:
“Hotwells nurtures the individual.” “This school has been
the best school I have sent
    my children to.”
    “My kids don’t ever want
    to come home.”

We think that says rather a lot about what it feels like to be part of Hotwells!
