At Hotwells, we pride ourselves on our Arts Provision and the creativity that flows throughout our school. Although we understand that creativity takes many forms, one of the areas that is given a particular importance is the Arts.
Art and Design
Hotwells pupils love art and this is given a high profile in our timetable to ensure that this happens regularly and to a high standard. In addition to our timetabled art lessons, we also regularly hold art enrichment opportunities such as Art Themed Weeks and workshops led by visiting specialists.
Each year, we also take part in the West Bristol Arts Trail in the local community where we proudly display a wide range of creative pieces produced by our children.
The Performing Arts
Each year, one of the highlights for many of our children is being involved in our upper Key Stage 2 production. This is a great opportunity for our children to shine on stage, showcasing their talents as performance artists. We know that these experiences form lasting memories for children and, as such, are committed to ensuring that these are of the highest quality and calibre. As part of this, our children also enjoy working with a professional choreographer to learn and rehearse dance routines.
We regularly look for opportunities to perform with other schools at different venues. Being part of Cathedral Schools Trust gives us access to Trust-wide concerts and music events: these include collaborative singing events, Primary music orchestras and multi-school choirs. In addition to this, we also perform alongside other Bristol primary schools at citywide events, such as St. George’s and Bristol Beacon.
